Ahhh the Mondays, back to work

by Roberta Ferguson

It’s Monday morning and you’re probably already back to work from the weekend. Yay, the Cavs won against the Pistons. Boo, you have to be at work.

Here, I’ll give you some ways to hack being back to work today:

  1. Make a list - Write out all of the things that you need to accomplish today and cross them off as you go. You will get a sense of accomplishment when you’re all done.
  2. Try to concentrate - Focusing on what you have to do today will make it easier to get through the day. Stay on target and get the hard tasks out of the way first. This way, when you get to the easy stuff, it’s a piece of cake.
  3. Time management - Set times that you will check your voicemail and emails. This will unclutter times for you to be productive throughout the day. Always respond quickly to correspondence and voicemails, otherwise these will weigh you down for the day, as well.
  4. Take a break - I know certain people where I work seem to refuse to want to take a break or go on lunch. Trust me, you need this unwinding time. Take a walk outside, go for a drive, do something that will get your mind off of the rest of the day ahead.
  5. Laugh it off - If coworkers or customers get you down or say something that rains on your parade, laugh it off. This is the best thing you can do in these situations. Don’t take it all personally, that would definitely ruin your day.
  6. Make conversation - Remember you’re not at work all by yourself. What makes the day go by faster than making casual conversation with coworkers or sending them a quick email to say hi. The truth is, no one really likes Mondays. The best thing we can all do is get over it together.

Tomorrow is another day!
